I have been teaching piano for 22 years and received a $900 Teaching Enrichment Grant from Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) in 2004. As of November 2024, I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) in piano through MTNA. I am adept in teaching the Russian piano method and can provide injury preventive piano technique that will take your playing to a higher level.
My most influential teachers were Dr. Ana Balakerskaia (Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory), Dr. Andrey Kasparov (Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory), Dr. Julie Hahn (Peabody Conservatory) and Dr. Barbara Lister-Sink (Salem College). I am targeting students both young and older who require a skilled piano teacher to hone their piano skills and progress to advanced solo piano repertoire or demanding collaborative piano repertoire. Lessons are tailored to the individual student and incorporate the three types of learning styles, i.e. visual, auditory or kinesthetic.
Every pianist should be aware of the muscle groups involved when playing piano. What is co-contraction? How do you release tension while playing piano? These topics will be explored during your piano lesson.
